Privacy Policy

What information do we collect?

We collect information from you when you register on the site, place an order, enter a contest or sweepstakes, respond to a survey, or participate in a website feature, including email communications.

When ordering or registering, we may ask you for your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, credit card information or other information. You may, however, visit our site anonymously. Note that, although we are able to take credit cards on our web store, TiffinTalk, Inc. does not store credit card details on any servers; this information is held only on PayPal servers.

Like many websites, we use “cookies” to enhance your experience and gather information about visitors and visits to our websites. Please refer to the "Do we use 'cookies'?" section below for information about cookies and how we use them. (Kat does have a cat named "Cookie" but that's a different kind of cookie all together.)

How do we use your information?

We may use the information we collect from you when you register, purchase products, enter a contest or promotion, respond to a survey or marketing communication, surf the website, or use certain other site features in the following ways:

    • To personalize your site experience and to allow us to deliver the type of content and product offerings in which you are most interested.
    • To allow us to better service you in responding to your customer service requests.
    • To quickly process your transactions.
    • To administer a contest, promotion, survey or other site feature.

If you have opted-in to receive our e-mail newsletter, we may send you periodic e-mails. If you would no longer like to receive any e-mails from us, please refer to the "How can you opt-out, remove or modify information you have provided to us?" section below. If you have not opted-in to receive e-mail newsletters, you will not receive these e-mails. Visitors who register or participate in other site features such as marketing programs and 'members-only' content will be given a choice whether they would like to be on our e-mail list and receive e-mail communications from us. If something has gone wonky, please let us know.

How do we protect visitor information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems. These people are TiffinTalk, Inc. personnel and are contractually bound to keep the information confidential. Online orders are handled by PayPal payment services; your credit card information is NEVER recorded or stored by TiffinTalk, Inc. UNLESS we take your credit card information over the phone or in person. In this case only, we make sure that the transaction goes through and then immediately shred the details because, to be honest, we don't want them! All sensitive/credit information you supply is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.

Do we use “cookies”?

First of all, for the purpose of full disclosure, one of Kat’s cats is named “Cookie” -- but she is not employed by TiffinTalk. While she has politely posed for photographs, she is mainly interested in sitting on technology and not infiltrating it.

The “cookies” that we are speaking of in the Privacy Policy are actually small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer's hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the site's or service provider's systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. For instance, our web store (via PayPal) uses cookies to help us remember and process the items in your shopping cart. They are also used to help us understand your preferences based on previous or current site activity, which enables us to provide you with improved services. We also use cookies to help us compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future. Did one person visit our site 100 times, or did we have 100 different visitors? Cookies help us understand what's really happening. They do not, however, hold any credit card information. At all.

We may contract with third-party service providers (such as Google Analytics, for example) to assist us in better understanding our site visitors.

You can choose to have your computer warn you each time a cookie is being sent, or you can choose to turn off all cookies. You do this through your browser (like Firefox, Safari, Chrome, or Internet Explorer/Edge) settings. Each browser is a little different, so look at your browser's Help menu to learn the correct way to modify your cookies. If you turn cookies off, you might not have access to some features that make your site experience more efficient and some of our services may not function properly. Depending on your level of concern, you might consider implementing software such as "LittleSnitch" (MacOS) to understand when our website tries to read a cookie.

We do not knowingly use “super-cookies” or “locally stored objects”. If you are aware of such entities associated with the TiffinTalk, Inc. website, please contact us; they are being added by a third-party against our wishes.

Do we disclose the information we collect to outside parties?

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information unless we provide you with advance notice, except as described below. The term "outside parties" does not include TiffinTalk owners, employees, or contractors. It also does not include website hosting partners and other parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe such release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others' rights, property, or safety. To the limits permitted by the law, we will resist demands for information, and we will try to inform you when your information has (or may have been) shared with government agencies.

How can you opt-out, remove or modify information you have provided to us?

To modify your e-mail subscriptions or have your information removed from our databases, please let us know by sending us an email or calling our customer support telephone line, (610) 299 1107. For legal reasons, we may be required to keep information to the effect that we have conducted business with you and/or communicated with you at some past time. We may also need to maintain information about an individual sales transaction in order to service that transaction and for recordkeeping.

Changes to our policy

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page. Policy changes will apply only to information collected after the date of the change. This policy was last modified on July 19, 2016. The document was changed to clarify the handling of credit card information (which is being done by PayPal).

This online privacy policy applies only to information collected through our website and not to information collected offline.

Your consent

By using our site, you consent to our privacy policy.

If there is some aspect to the policy that you do not agree with, please contact us. The founders of TiffinTalk, Inc. are fiercely private people who resent unwarranted intrusions. If something in our policy bothers you, we want to know about it so that we can discuss it with you and try to make it work for everybody.

A final note

Lest the other cats be offended by having names with no technological double entendres, it should be noted that Cookie, the cat, shares human laps and laptop space with Pepper, Saffron and S’More. They, too, are proud to be photographed and are pictured on several TiffinTalk cards. They are not yet represented by their own agent(s). Rory, the puppy-growing-daily-into-service-dog status has no privacy issues at all.
